Midwest Association of Pre-Law Advisors

		As an organization of pre-law advisors at accredited colleges and universities in the midwest, MAPLA provides a context for the sharing of knowledge and experience among advisors to promote informed advising of students considering a legal career. Through an annual conference, including a workshop for new pre-law advisors, MAPLA serves as a vehicle for increased communication between individual law school admissions officers, Law Services staff, pre-law advisors and students.

For member advisors, MAPLA provides access to information about new resources and services and promotes the kind of supportive professional development which makes our work more effective. MAPLA has distinguished itself nattionally with the annual publication of its LAW SCHOOL ADMISSIONS PROFILES, a compendium of admissions data for all ABA-approved schools in the United States. MAPLA Briefs, the associations's newsletter, is published several times a year and features articles regarding legal education and the profession.

2008 Pre Law Advisor's National Council (PLANC) Conference

The2007 MAPLA Conference was held Friday, September 14 through Sunday, September 16, 2007 in downtown Chicago at the Chicago City Centre Hotel & Sports Club.The next MAPLA conference will be in the fall of 2009.

MAPLA Caravan

2008 Caravan will be Monday, October 6 through Thursday, October 9
In 2008 the Caravan will visit Indiana Univ., Bloomington, Washington University, St. Louis, the Univ. of Illinois - Champaign/Urbana, and the Univ. of Wisconsin - Madison.
